So maybe you missed Coachella this year. Or maybe you decided not to go this year to spare your wallet. Or MAYBE, in a weird turn of events, you’ve been to Coachella so many times before that you’re ready for something new. Whatever the case may be, we have you covered. Here’s 5 fun alternatives to Coachella 2015 :
(1) Brokechella 2015
Brokechella, embracing the competition with Coachella, is held on April 18th on 590 Santa Fe Ave, right in the center of downtown. There’s four stages, a vendor fair, giant jenga puzzles, and TONS of talent. The best part is, tickets only cost $25 dollars at the door or $20 for general admission until April 17th.
(2) Ecochella 2015
Ecochella is a 100% bike-powered, eco-loving and FREE concert. It is put on entirely by students and held at UCLA’s very own Sunset Rec. This year, Ecochella is being held on May 1st at 4:30pm, so it’s definitely a little later in the spring, but still a great opportunity to be a part of the spring musical fun without having to give up a limb or your life savings.
(3) Lightning in a Bottle 2015
Lightning in a Bottle is a music and yoga campout festival held throughout California’s major cities. It is about 92 dollars for the Los Angeles weekend from May 21-25th. You can choose to arrive on the 21st or 22nd and LIB will even provide your transportation. The event is totally family friendly and there will be over 70 artists performing throughout the weekend.
(4) FYF Fest 2015
FYF is an amazing music festival in Los Angeles. It is held later in the summer, this year on the weekend of August 22-23rd, but if you’re down for the wait, you can’t miss it. FYF has previously shared a lineup with The Strokes, Phoenix, Haim, Interpol, and more. And get this. Not only does FYF have music, but comedians perform every day of the festival, bringing good times to everyone. Weekend Passes for FYF Fest are $129 this year, still a little pricey, but less than Coachella for those who can’t afford the Coachella lux.
Fans of Coachella 2015 have a lot to look forward to in LA for April. Nicknamed “Localchella,” there will be a number of shows and concerts performing throughout the month at well known venues such as Club Nokia, the Constellation Room, the Echo, Fox Theater, Glass House, and more. This is the best opportunity to see your favorite Coachella bands play even if you missed out on weekend passes this year. Just a few of the bands that will be playing for Localchella include Alt-J, Odesza, Sylvan Esso, Clean Bandit, Interpol, and Vance Joy. The tickets vary in prices, but they are far cheaper than a whole Coachella weekend.
