It’s the time of the quarter when everyone is obsessing over class planners, upper and lower div’s, and PTE numbers: it’s time to enroll for courses for next quarter. Is this new news to you? If so, you should definitely read below about what you should be doing to make sure you are enrolling in your dream classes next quarter!
1. CHECK YOUR PASS TIMES
I cannot stress this enough, your pass time is your key. You could end up having a great enrollment time but miss it because you just didn’t check. Womp womp. So what you need to do is log in to myUCLA and go to your class planner. Click on winter quarter and your pass time should be labelled across the top of the page!
2. LOOK AT YOUR DEGREE AUDIT REPORT
If you don’t know which classes to take, you should check out your degree audit report! It has all the classes and requirements you need to fulfill before you graduate. You can find this by logging into myUCLA and finding the link under “Academics”.
3. PLAN YOUR CLASSES
Once you figure out which classes you need/want to take, go to the UCLA Registrar website and check those classes are offered next quarter. You can also check BruinWalk to see ratings of professors before deciding which classes to take.
4. TALK TO YOUR ADVISOR
If you can’t or don’t want to find your degree audit report then just talk to your advisor! They are literally paid to sit in a chair and answer your questions, TALK TO THEM.
5. TALK TO THE PROFESSOR
If you didn’t get into a class that you wanted, don’t give up! Talk to the professor to see if they can get you a PTE number. Many professors will help if they see a student taking initiative. And even if they don’t you can always ask to audit the class or wait until 1st week when everyone will probably drop the class anyway.
